A new high performing home overlooking the Hauraki Gulf
When our client approached us to design this house, their brief was for a high performing home, which would optimise the stunning harbour views but be flexible enough to serve them into retirement and beyond. The house has been designed with the main living areas and master suite on the top floor to take advantage of the views, and serviced by a lift (as future proofing for times when they may become less ambulant). The lower floor provides family bedrooms, bathroom and additional living room and kitchenette, to allow it to be closed off when not used, and to provide generous guest accommodation for when family visit.
The house is designed to be ‘high performing’, and along with thermally broken windows and a high level of insulation, includes a vapour barrier to external walls and a state of the art Stiebel Eltron balance heat recovery ventilation system to ensure the house is always provided with fresh air at a comfortable temperature.
Low maintenance aluminium weatherboards combine with schist stonework to give a clean and simple exterior aesthetic.
